I was hoping that Bottas would be able to hold onto the championship lead a bit longer and at least put up a bit of a fight to Hamilton but already Hamilton is running away with the title Bottas has barely been a threat to him recently. It would be good to see someone else take Bottas's place but I can't see that happening mainly because he's a good number 2 driver fast enough to finish behind Hamilton most of the time but not fast enough to give us a Hamilton vs Rosberg scenario that gives the team a headache sorting out. I remember reading last year that Hamilton and wanted to keep Bottas as his teammate and you can't blame him many would do the same in his position but for us fans, it makes things more boring seeing Hamilton win all the time without much of a challenge unless you're a Hamilton fan though. Spot on! Sadly we have another year of Bottas at Mercedes. Shame he become Lewis wingman again, huh for another year maybe we will hear "Valtteri, its James" again

really really breaking news here! Racing Point was fined for the Brake Dusts! its almost the same like W10,and losing 15 points! woah, but i dont really care because the drivers was not a sunday driver, what do you think? it's bs, renault was dnq for a "sporting regulation" violation. hell the spystory was a "sporting regulation" violation. "issa yoke, the 15 point, a yoke"

Pole for Bottas. Even if he wins, Lewis will be second and still clear ahead. The last week was already Bottas knockout. Every year he wins a few races, but its not enough at all. BIG BIG BIG respect for Hulkenberg!!!!! Thats what you call talend!

I do think Racing Point did get off lightly just 15 points and a fine with no disqualification or anything but then this is F1 and the rulings are never consistent. Some of the teams are protesting though thinking that Racing Points punishment isn't enough so we'll what happens. A great lap from Hulkenberg I would love to see him get a podium tomorrow although it will be a challenge with Verstappen behind in the Red Bull. I just had a thought it would be typical of Hulkenberg's bad luck that he manages to get his first ever podium finish only for the ruling of Racing Point changes and they face disqualification and he loses the podium. You heard it here first.

I would not wonder if its true. He finishes third, gets on the podium, and loose it at the green table. would be a shame. But i also think, that the redbull and maybe leclerc are faster in the race.

Tracing Point got off very lightly! Won't be the last you hear of this, I am sure!

The Verstappen vs Hulkenberg battle for 3rd place lasted shorter than I expected only about 3 seconds. Anyway I'm glad someone else won a race for once a different driver and team makes a change.

yeah the racing point was not as fast at racespeed as in the qualifying. also, hülkenberg had bad luck with strategy. but iam happy about another color at the top step.

From Mercedes view, i can understand it. He can save millions by signing Bottas instead of a second fast and expensive driver. And Bottas will always do what they want from him. So, why should he risk something? Two fast drivers is always a risk. See Rosberg/Hamilton or better, Hamilton/Alonso. Kimi picked up the title because McLaren had 2 fast drivers.

Yes, they did not want another Rosberg! Fast enough to challenge Lewis! The day he should have challenged Lewis into T1 and keep his title chances alive, he bottles it and ends up behind a Tracing Point. Pathetic.

I would rate Bottas a decent driver and definetely not one of the worse drivers right now I think he's somewhere in the middle he can still occasionally beat Hamilton to pole and a race win which shows he's no slouch but he's not in the same league as the likes of Rosberg who was able to at least challenge Hamilton to the championship.
I've had a look at the StatsF1 website at the lap by lap data that shows where everyone is each lap. I only counted the laps when both drivers are racing if a teammate retired the laps afterwards didn't count,
Verstappen 320 vs Albon 1 = Verstappen has so far dominated Albon and that 1 lap from Albon was him just passing Verstappen as he retired the car in Austria so you could say that doesn't really count. So far Albon has yet to complete one full proper lap ahead of Verstappen. Russell 285 vs Latifi 67 = Russell has done well I think he's a good driver it's hard to say how good because he's always been in the slowest car. Hamilton 265 vs Bottas 117 Sainz 248 vs Norris 132 Ricciardo 227 vs Ocon 52 Leclerc 226 vs Vettel 58 = Shows what a horrible season Vettel is having. Magnussen 201 vs Grosjean 71 = I think this could be Grosjeans last season although I've said that for the past 3 years and Haas always just extend his contract for another year. Raikkonen 191 vs Giovinazzi 169 Gasly 167 vs Kvyat 116 Stroll 147 vs Perez 78 Hulkenberg 40 vs Stroll 12

Bottas is really good, hes just very much a DC/Barrichello/Irvine type driver, I think the frustration is there are other drivers out there who have that speed as well (Hulk, Perez etc) who might give it just a little bit more of a go, at times it feels like hes just filling a seat someone exciting could have.
Incidentally on Seans post, i'm not surprised Ocon is getting trashed, never rated him.

No, I think the frustration is that he is the only one in a car capable of challenging Lewis and he has got zero bottle to do so. He's quick and got pace, yes, but he's no Rosberg. If he was in the Mercedes, but the RB and the Ferrari were capable of at least challenging the Mercedes, I don't think people would be so bothered about Bottas. But as our only hope for something different to a Hamilton cruise, he comes up short nigh on every weekend. At the weekend, he really should have been starting well and going wheel to wheel with Lewis - in reality, he fluffed the start and ended up behind Lance Stroll. Lewis will cruise to another title, unless Merc have serious problems.

Not much to say about the race in Belgium another Mercedes 1-2 with Verstappen third. I was happy to see Renault get a good result and a great drive by Gasly too. Ferrari embarrassing performance that car is terrible.

Oh of course, but that has been to case pretty much throughout the hybrid era.
At least when Rosberg was there, he gave a fight to Lewis and made it interesting. Wasn't afraid of doing battle with Hamilton and getting stuck in.
Bottas looks like a rabbit in headlights whenever he has the chance to fight Lewis.
At least some people may now start to respect Rosberg some more - the disrespect he received when he won the title was disgraceful.
