Hello All,
Friend and I are trying to get a multiplayer game going. We planned to use Hamachi.
1) We are able to join the same network 2) Able to ping each other 3) Once in game we can see and attempt to connect to each other's PC. This is the case regardless of who hosts.
However once we try to actually join, it attempts for about 1 minute, and then says unable to connect.
Has anyone encountered this, or can provide any suggestions on how to connect and play multiplayer?
Thank you!

Connection instructions. In the patched version of the game there is a TCP / IP game, but only within the network, the Hamachi program will help to create an intranet accessible via the Internet. Install Hamachi. When installing, leave the "Block vulnerable services for Hamachi connections" checkbox empty, also turn off the Windows Firewall, if you have a firewall or antivirus, then turn it off too, it may interfere with the connection. Next, we launch Hamachi, you will immediately be given your own, intranet IP-address. We click on "go to the existing network" and drive in the WorldRacing.Info network with the password 111. Launch the patched GPM2 (by declaring the properties of GPM2.exe and setting 256 colors and Win95 compatibility). Go to the Link Play menu, then TCP / IP, the Slave button and enter the IP address of the server (mine) 5.55.27.72, it will take some time to find the server, 1-5 minutes. After the one who manages the server sees that everyone has entered, he will press start and the game will start.

Hi - thank you for the reply. We did do the above, and we can both join the same Hamachi network, but when either of us tries to join the other's game we eventually time out and get an "unable to connect" error from GPM2. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar.

If anyone else tries it and has feedback or success, it'd be appreciated. My work schedule is crazy, so hosting a league is not really in the cards, just looking to setup a game with one of my buddies I played with back in 97.

Appreciate this thread is over a year old, but i tried this with a mate the other day.
The reason we were getting the 'unable to connect' message was firewall related. I made configuration changes and he temporarily disabled his firewall we were eventually able to see the host server details in the TCP/IP connection option. This was using Hamachi as well. Connecting via our Public IP addresses didnt work, but connecting using the Hamachi VPN internal IPs is what worked.
However this is as far as i could get, once selecting the host server (both of us tried to be the master / slave) the game just crashes to desktop after 'connect' it selected.
Has anyone got past this point?
